A unique, new advanced process control gauging system has been showcased in Scotland at a leading industry event hosted by Heriot-Watt University.

Eponsa, a manufacturer of automotive components located near Barcelona, Spain, has purchased a versatile and innovative shop-floor comparative gauge, the new Renishaw Equator, to check the quality of stamped parts and assemblies.

A software-driven comparative gauge, Renishaw's new Equator system, is already starting to soften up the cost for numerous hard gauges at aero-engine component maker Meyer Tool, Cincinnati, OH. Meyer Tool designs, builds, and maintains dozens of these costly tools every year for in-process measurement.

The new patented Equator™ gauging system cuts purchase, maintenance and fixture costs, can be pre-programmed for multiple parts and in minutes re-programmed for design changes. Equator is a radical new alternative to traditional dedicated gauging, filling a gap in the market never before addressed. It is more than just a new gauging system, it marks the launch of Renishaw’s first gauging product line.
